A promise is a promise

“Anyone inseminating with seleXYon will on average receive the desired sex at least nine times out of ten births.” This guarantee has applied since sexed semen doses have been used at Swissgenetics.

We verify this promise every year. All calves born from SeleXYon fertilisation are assessed via the calf notifications to the Swiss stock movement database (TVD)

The result from the previous year of 2019 shows that 91.3% of these calves had the desired sex. However, the residual risk of a calf being born with the “wrong” sex must continue to be expected.

In 2021 an average of 7.9% of calves were born with the wrong sex.

The figures once again show that the consistent utilisation of seleXYon as part of company strategy is worthwhile. Genetic progress through targeted progeny can be both increased and also accelerated in this manner.
